Panama Canal Transit

Our last Boujee adventure was on a mesmerizing cruise through the heart of the Americas, courtesy of Princess Cruise Lines. Our adventure took us through the engineering marvel that is the Panama Canal and made unforgettable stops in Jamaica, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Cayman Islands. We were ready to explore the diverse cultures, natural beauty, and rich history of these vibrant destinations.

Setting sail from Fort Lauderdale we boarded the Caribbean Princess cruise ship. The first thing we did after we boarded was to make our reservations for The Sanctuary. We booked a spot here for all days at sea and during the Panama Canal transit.

Next day was a full day at sea that was spent in the Sanctuary. We were really looking for a relaxing vacation, so we did a lot of reading during this trip. The staff in the Sanctuary were amazing bringing you fresh water, drinks, lunch, and even teatime. All our sea days were spent doing this exact thing, it was definitely worth the extra money for us to spend our time here.

Our first port stop was Falmouth, Jamaica. Known for its reggae music, vibrant culture, and beautiful beaches, we couldn't wait to explore. We opted to explore on our own here as we have been to Jamaica several times. We savored jerk chicken, beef patties, and fresh coconut water from local vendors, food is a must try in Jamaica. The rhythm of the island, the warmth of the people, and the turquoise waters made for an unforgettable start to our voyage.

The next stop on our adventure was Cartagena, Columbia. The moment we stepped ashore; we were greeted by the vibrant colors of the colonial old town. We opted for a shore excursion here hitting the highlights of what Cartagena has to offer. Wandering through the cobbled streets and admiring the intricately designed balconies, we felt like we had stepped back in time. One of the many highlights of our visit was exploring the Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, a 16th-century fortress that offers panoramic views of the city and the Caribbean Sea.

Our next stop, and the reason why we picked this cruise was our Panama Canal transit. We marveled at the precision and ingenuity that allowed our massive cruise ship to pass through the series of locks and chambers. The experience was a testament to human engineering and the spirit of exploration that has connected the world's oceans for over a century. We spent the day in The Sanctuary which gave us the best views for the transit and throughout the day they announced facts on the loudspeaker and talked us through what was going on which was amazing.

Next up for us was Limon, Costa Rica. Here we opted for another excursion exploring this country and seeing the highlights. We ate some amazing food, walked through the rainforest, and explored a cocoa and banana plantation. Our guide was amazing and did a great job at answering our questions and explaining the Costa Rican culture.

Our final stop was Grand Cayman. We have been here several times as well so we wandered the town looking at gift shops and spent some time in a local bar enjoying the day. We sat by the water eating some amazing seafood and watching the ships on the water.

Our Princess Cruise through the Panama Canal with stops in Jamaica, Colombia, Costa Rica, and Cayman Islands was an extraordinary experience that left us with a treasure trove of memories. From the lively streets of Montego Bay to the romantic alleys of Cartagena and the natural wonders of Costa Rica, each destination offered a unique and enriching experience. If you're seeking a cruise that combines the best of culture, adventure, and natural beauty, this itinerary is a must-try.
